Easy Biscuit Beignets with Strawberry Sauce

I have been wanting to try and make beignets ever since I saw The Princess and the Frog. I’m dying to go to Louisiana and try ALL THE FOOD and ALL THE COCKTAILS. in the meantime I have been ogling over all of the deliciousness Pinterest has to offer and wondering how and when I would try my hand at some of these dishes.

With Superbowl Sunday just before Fat Tuesday and having a few guests coming over, it was my perfect opportunity to finally try my hand at my OVEN CROCKPOT GUMBO and these beignets. After seeing how extensive a process it is to make beignets and knowing how tired I was and in need of a break from the week before, I had to find another way to make these because, well, it was stuck in my mind… especially the strawberry sauce!

I remembered how Paula Deen (I think) had an episode of making doughnuts out of biscuit dough and figured:  it’s fried dough after all; why not???

I used jumbo Grands flaky biscuits and cut each in half, frying them until golden on both sides then dusted them very generously with powdered sugar. Although it was tasty just like that, the star of this show is definitely the strawberry sauce. OMG I think I almost bit tongue! Fortunately, I didn’t sway earlier in the day because I think I had about 4 of these warm, sugary, ooey-gooey treats…
