After months of persuasion, my girlfriend finally got me to try one of her favorite Vietnamese food trucks, and I must admit I was NOT disappointed. I didn’t think that I would be, but I’m glad that I wasn’t.
Of all of the deliciousness that I had that day, what really stood out in my mind was the crispy Brussels sprouts. Having discovered Brussels sprouts late in life I have only ever tried them steamed, pan fried, and oven roasted, so you can imagine how these little fried devils changed my life!
Unfortunately, I don’t think that I fully hit the mark with my version as I’m sure she used some spices I simply didn’t have on hand. I wills ay that these are quite delicious! I opted to go with organic lard for frying since I fell in love with it about a year or so ago, but I also tried using vegetable oil as well and both methods came out great. I’m a bit biased, so I prefer the taste of the lard-fried sprouts over the oil-fried version.
If you have never tried Brussels sprouts I think that this could be a good starting point for your tastebuds.
